Ajit Balakrishnan’s weblog

Ajit Balakrishnan now has a blog. (via Kiruba). I enjoyed reading What next for Indian design and Am I cut out to be an entrepreneur. But I do wish that he would check for typos before he uploads his stuff.
Balakrishnan is the chairman of Rediff.com and was the co-founder and principal owner of Rediffusion advertising agency. Rediff’s aggressive and elegant advertisement campaigns for Congress-I in 1984 and ’89 campaigns changed the way political campaigns are run in India. Today, Balakrishnan is better known for Rediff which changed the rules of the game for web publishing in India. Apparently, he is also well known inside Rediff for practicing his golf swings in the corridors with an imaginary golf club.
I suspect a major part of the credit for Rediff’s web initiative also goes to Anita who from inside Rediff has been a tireless promoter weblogs in India.

  1. “…Rediff for practicing his golf swings in the corridors with an imaginary golf club.” Kaushik, this is news to me too 🙂
Actually, I haven’t done much on the initiate. At least not as much as I would have liked because the usual work pressures and other work. But hopefully, we can take it to the next level from here.

  2. Hi… I am taking the previlege of writing directly to you. I have a certain concern about the very unprofessional response from your rediff shopping department… Is there an individual I can write to about the problem… The customer care ID seems to be of no particular use.

I am sorry to hear that you did not get a good response from Rediff. I don’t work for Rediff, neither am I affiliated with it in any way. As such, I can not unfortunately be of much help.
I am taking the privilage of forwarding your complaint to someone on the Rediff staff with whom I am acquinted through her weblog. She might be able to forward it to the appropriate people on the Rediff staff.
Also, I am taking the liberty of removing your contact information from your comment. I am probably slightly old fashioned in thinking that it is not a hot idea to post your personal phone no on the web!
